Nov 10, 2001 IGNACIO — Live professional boxing action comes to the Four Corners area today, Nov. 10, at Sky Ute Casino’s Tecate Pavillion. Sky Ute Casino is promoting "Takin’ Care of Business." This night of boxing not only will feature professional bouts but also eight amateur contests. Action gets under way with the amateur bouts at 5:15 p.m. with the main show slated around 7:30. A big bout on the card will be Farmington’s Victor Barela, a former hgihly acclaimed amateur boxer, who will be making his profession debut against Roberto Delgado of Mexico City. The Main Event will showcase the strength and skill of undefeated "Slick" Willie Stewart (15-0) of Las Vegas, Nev., against southpaw Dominic Rivera of Portland, Ore., in a 10-round heavyweight fight. The Co-Main Event will feature a six-round fight featuring Durango’s Elco Garcia versus Vincent Moses, also from Las Veas. Robert Manore will enter the ring in what is being billed as slugfest as he battles against Ruben Aguayo of Juarez, Mexico. Two additional fights will feature gals and a highly-touted all American Indian heavyweight contest. Open ringside seats are $20. General admission seats are $10 for adults and $8.50 for children under age 12. Tickets are available at the door at the Tecate Pavillion, Sky Ute Casino Gift Shop, the Durango Smoke Shop, and Western Warehouse in Farmington. Gates open at 4 p.m. A cash bar will be available for those over age 21. |
