October 11, 2001 STAFF REPORT For the second time in three weeks, Gary Gnas of Dolores has won the Cortez Journal’s National Football League weekly contest. "I’m on a roll," he said Wednesday morning. "Everyone is going to be mad at me. When I won a couple weeks ago that was my first time ever winning. And now I’ve won again. Holly cow!" This time it was harder. His first win, he won outright. But this week it took a win via the tiebreaker system to determine he had won. Again Gnas went with his heart (Chicago and Denver) and his gut (on a couple other games). "I have to go with the Bears and the Broncos. I did look at the odds (latest line) carefully this week now that we are getting more into the season. A couple games looked real heavy and turned into lopsided wins. On a couple games I checked the offensive and defensive statistics. And a couple of them I just had to go with my gut feeling rather than even going with the oddsmakers," he added. Asked what he is going to do with his windfall, Gnas said, "spend it." For a valid contest entry, make sure the advertisers are in the right spot. Please print name plainly on entry form. One entry this week did not have a name. Another contest will appear in Tuesday’s paper.
