Headed for state

THE TRAP GRAPHICS White Sox completed their year undefeated (12-0) in the Roberto Clemente baseball division. They won three straight in the tournament. The Southwest Contracting Cubs finished in second place in the tournament, with the Candelaria Construction/Belt Salvage Yankees finishing third. The White Sox will represent Cortez in the state tournament beginning Wednesday, July 11 in Aztec, N.M. Joining the White Sox roster for the tournament are Ryan Haley (Cubs), Cade Mitchell (Western Excelsior Blue Jays) and Corey Adams (Yankees). THE ROYALS, 2001 City League Champs of the Willie Mays division, begin state tournament play on July 11 in Bloomfield, N.M. The Royals finished their season 20-1 and will be looking to top their third place finish in the state tourney from a year ago. They will compete against 11 other teams from the Four Corners region.
