The second Southwest Showdown Junior Rodeo was held June 9 at the Montezuma County Fairgrounds.

The third rodeo in the Southwest Showdown Jr. Rodeo Summer Series will be held July 21 (the first was held May 12) in the Montezuma County Fairgrounds Indoor Arena.

The final date for the series is Aug. 11. Contestants must compete in three out of the four rodeos to qualify ro the series-end awards.

Age groups are: 2-3, 4-5, 6-8, 9-12, and 13-18. Events for the rodeos include barrels, poles, flag race, goat tying, pony express (mailbox race), and stickhorse. Entry forms and rule books are available at NuWay Western Wear in Cortez.
