The Cortez Youth Tennis Lessons First Session concluded with a mini-tournament on June 14 at the Centennial Park Tennis Courts.

In the advanced beginner class, Alec Hart defeated Ben Robinson 6-4, 6-3. The match was closer than the score indicated, according to teacher Jim Harkendorff.

In the beginner class, the doubles team of Sara Reese and Olivia Hart outlasted the team of Bethany Carey and Albina Hart 6-4 in a one-set marathon. Both teams fought hard to win the crucial points during the match, according to Harkendorf.

Summer Youth Tennis continues with the second session which began June 25. Another mini-tournament will be held following it. The third sessoin will start July 16. The Summer Youth Tennis is for youngsters between the ages of 7-12.
