June 9, 2001 The Cortez Women’s Golf Association held a Regular Play Tournament this past Tuesday, June 5, at Conquistador Golf Course. Kristine Harrison won with a low net 61. Paula Lively came in second, but was 10 strokes back. Shelley Earl, Pearl Wiggins, and Janet Miller tied for third with a net 72. Several women recorded gobbles. They were Dottie Banks and Harriet Nowotny on hole no. 4, Helen Hanson on no. 7, Claudia McNair on no. 5, and Harrison on no. 13. Harrison was named "Ace" of the day. The CWGA also held a Nassau Tournament on May 29, at Conquistador Golf Course. A total of 22 women participated. Joanne Luhman captured first place on the front nine while Asalea Wright and Arlene Curtis tied for first on the back nine. Wright was the winner overall. Luhman sank a birdie putt on hole no. 3. Stacy Kirks made one on no. 10 and Shirley Hanson recorded hers on no. 16. Donna Durant made a gobble on no. 10 and Wiggins on no. 12. Hanson was the closest to the pin on no. 16. The Wednesday Night Ladies Group played Red, White and Blue (tees) on May 30. Lynette Candelaria-Mitchell took first with a 49. Sherrill Burton came in second, strokes back. Banks sank a birdie putt on hole no. 16 and Burton made one on no. 17. |
