May 26, 2001 The Cortez Women’s Golf Association held a "Woulda," "Coulda," and "Shoulda" (count penalties) Tournament on May 22 at Conquistador Golf Course. The winners were Randi Reed with a 63, Harriet Nowotny came in second with a 68, followed by Donna Suckla and Stacy Kirks, both carding 69s. Birdies were recorded by Pearl Wiggins on hole no. 3, Betty Underwood also on no. 3, Kirks on no. 11, and Pat Osburn on no. 16. Bobby Ertel made a gobble on no. 12. Wiggins won the closest to the pin on no. 3. The tournament this Tuesday, May 29, will be a Nassau with tee times beginning at 9 a.m. The June 5 tee times will start an hour earlier. The Wednesday Evening Ladies competed in a Regular Play nine-hole tournament on May 23. A total of 12 ladies played. Arlene Curtis finished in first with a net 31. The play this Wednesday, May 30, will be "Red, White, and Blue Tees." Play on May 15 was "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly." Kirks captured first place while Nowotny took second and Mary Englehart third. Birdies were made by Englehart on no. 10 and Kirks on no. 17. Gobbles were recorded by Nowotny on no. 4, Mary Ann Hetherington on no. 5, Helen Hanson on no. 9, Shelley Earl on no. 11, and Kirks on no. 17. Englehart was closest to the pin on no. 16. On May 16, the Wednesday Evening Ladies held a Criers Match for nine holes. A total of 12 played. Sandy Rudosky won with a 40. Lanette Candelaria-Mitchell made a gobble on no. 8. Curtis sank a birdie on no. 14. |
