April 5, 2001 Scott Koppenhafer headed to Battle Creek, Mich., on Wednesday, April 4, to compete in the Kellogg’s Underclassmen Team National Duals Wrestling Tournament. Koppenhafer, a junior at Mancos High School, was selected for Team Colorado based on his accomplishments this past winter. Koppenhafer finished as state runnerup at 135 pounds at the Class 2A State Wrestling Championships held in Denver in mid-February. "This will be great experience for him," MHS head coach Travis Bryant said. "He will have some good company because several state champs is on the team." The team is being coached by Ty Tadhum of Longmont High School, Craig Walters of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Sean Marsh from Rampart High School. Koppenhafer will start wrestling today, April 5, and continue through Saturday, April 7, and return home Sunday, April 8. Bryant reported he will wrestle against teams from Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Iowa, New York and Connecticut to name a few. He is the son of Carla and Gerald Koppenhafer of Mancos. |
