The Revengers of Montezuma will host an organizational meeting for 2001 at 6 p.m. Jan. 20 at Nihla McCabe’s house at 15257 Colorado Highway 145 in Dolores. The meeting is for anyone who might be interested in joining the Revengers, the cowboy mounted shooting club.

This is a fun sport that involves shooting balloons from horseback in a pattern with the fastest time winning. Each person is encouraged to dress in the style of a person from the 1800s.

"We would love to have anyone, from anywhere in the Four Corners who would be interested to attend the meeting. We will have video’s of some of the past year’s matches. The next closest club like this is in Lake George, Colo.," McCabe, also known as Helda Huginkiss, said.

The group recently competed at the Single Action Shooting Society’s Western National Mounted Shooting Event in Sandy Valley, Nev. Rico Star, aka Reed McCabe, finished as the number one shooter in the Beginner Men’s Division. The Huginkiss sisters — Aneeda aka Wanda Martin, Helda aka Nihla McCabe, and Amanduh aka JoAnn Aldrich, finished one, two, three in the Beginner Women’s Division. McCabe took first, Martin second, and Aldrich third.

Each of the divisions had at least six shooters to compete against. Some of them have been shooting for several years. During the three days, crews from Cable News Network (CNN) and a documentary crew from Europe filmed the event.
