BAD TO THE bone boxers, Shane Roscone and Joey Villasamor pose with victory trophies earned at the Bad Man Contest last month at the Ute Mountain Casino.

Power Promotions held the first Four Corners "Badd-Man Contest" on Oct. 13 and 14 at the Ute Mountain Casino.

The event was a complete success. Power Promotions sold out both nights, and brought some of the "baddest" brawls ever to hit the Four Corners area.

Wes Short, president of Power Promotions, will make a donation of $1 per ticket to the American Cancer Society throughout this holiday season.

"My family has been hit with cancer over the past 10 years," Short said. "Losing loved ones to cancer is very frustrating. Watching people you care about go through the pain and desperate search for some relief, some kind of cure, anything, leaves you feeling powerless. For myself, I have found that through prayer and donations to research, you can find some power — the power to help others."

Short said he plans to make a donation on behalf of the Cortez community and Power Promotions for each event held by his firm, and that Power Promotions needs community support to achieve the total goal of $1,000.

Short invites everyone to support this venture by attending the "Rockin’ Rumble" slated for Nov. 24 and 25 at Ute Mountain Casino, from 6 to 8 p.m.
