| THE CORTEZ MIDDLE SCHOOL
volleyball team captured its third San Juan League Tournament
championship in as many years recently in Pagosa Springs. Coach
Terry Wells holds up the plaque as team members pose with her.
The Jaguars were led by eighth graders Baylee Underwood, Karlyn
Franchini, Jessie Pickens, Carmen Samora, Cynovia Wing, Brittney
Whiteman and Gina Franchini plus seventh graders Callie Carver
and Natalie Johnson. No. 2 seed CMS defeated No. 1 Escalante
13-15, 15-12, 16-14; and then beat Miller 15-12, 15-13. |
