New course records set in Pueblo to Pueblo Run

Lynn Price was the overall female winner and Roy Perales was the overall male winner of the 2-mile Run/Walk portion of the sixth annual Pueblo to Pueblo Run on Saturday, May 6. Both runners established new course records for their respective division.

Price clocked 17 minutes, 06 seconds while Perales won in 14:01. Price wiped out the old record of 17:55 set in 1998 by Sue Story. Perales set a new course record, eclipsing the previous best of 14:11 set by Greg Dahl in 1996.

The 2-mile run/walk started and ended at the Cortez Cultural Center, which sponsored the event. Runners and walkers circled Centennial Park and then they headed back. Sidney Freelanced won the men’s division in the 2-mile in 13:57. a year ago. Belinda Strickland won the female division title in 18:01.

In the male division, Andrew Webster came in second in 14:57, Weldon Neff was next at 15:19, Jason Holland placed fourth in 15:45, and Ian Mullikin fifth in 15:49. Other placers included Steve Stovall in 16:23, Gary Carnahan 16:29, Bernard Bro 17:33, Tom Konchaski 19:43, Mike Rutledge 20:08, Paul Trap 20:52, Don Franchini 20:13, Roger Weitzenkamp 24:29, Justin Baacke 25:12, John Bond 25:25, Jay Depuy 29:10, Jim Price 29:49, Zach Morris 30:23, Wade Yenowine 33:52, Martin Hertzberg 33:56, Christopher Stidham 35:24, and Jason Boblit 39:17.

Coming in second in the female division was Sandra Nakai-Tsosie in 18:07 while Laura Miller placed third in 21:22, Elisa Mullikin fourth 21:24 and Beth Howell fifth 21:27. Others included Lorraine Boblitt 21:29, Nita Welch 22:35, Becky Rutledge 23:32, Donella Murray 23:35, Melinda Green 23:45, Susan Baacke 24:24, Laura Kochanski 28:07, Holly Hallem 28:09, Deanna Bond 28:44, Joyce Greenlee 29:06, Diane Weitzenkamp 29:06, Linda Harbey 29:09, LouAnn Burkett 29:50, Jane Anderson 20:23, Robyn Bragg 30:39, Annette Mullikin 31:40, Mary Everson 31:43, Jeanna Jenson 33:09, Loretta Green 33:46, Susan Miracle 33:48, Jessamyn Stidham 35:24, Lisa Frank 35:24, Shirley Wilson 35:40, Winona Begay 35:40, Dotty Kurdt 36:03, Mary Mangins 36:03, Nelsa Burkett 37:10, Cassidy Larrick 37:14, Trish Haines 39:18, Nona Dale 39:21, Robin Hughs 43:11, Liz Estep 43:11, and Nancy Thurman 43:11.

John Harris was the male winner and the overall winner in 1 hour, 05 minutes, 04 seconds (see Tuesday, May 9, paper for story). Janet Snyder was the overall female winner with her time of 1:19:46 (see Tuesday’s paper). Cindy Putnam finished second in 1:23:14, Leslie Stewart third in 1:23:14, Cindy Slim fourth 1:31:07, and Linda Paris fifth 1:35:00. They were followed by Mary Kemp 1:38:31, Ronda Cluff 1:38:43, Erica Campos 1:41:05, Cindy Dunnahoo 1:42:46, Susan Keck 1:45:04, Ryan Rowley 1:46:55, Dianna Cooper 1:47:48, Stephanie Munchaff 1:48:33, Anna Tong 1:51:18, Kim Sakadinsky 1:53:39, Lynn Alford 1:54:16, Sue Rhodes 2:00:39, Ruth Hertzberg 2:32:15, Ann Truelsen 2:40:50, and Marti McNamee 2:40:50.

The top three overall male and female placers in each race will receive valued from $30 to $100. Awards were be given out for placers in the following age categories: 0-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-and older for the 11-mile event. Awards for the 2-mile run/walk were given for those placers in various categories: 1-5, 6-10, 11-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, and 50 plus.
