Body & Spirit is somewhat of a melting pot for local artists.

Located at 100 E. Main Street in Cortez, the new retail shop is co-owned by Liana and Brad Wright and Vicki and Jim Harrison. The shop specializes in natural body products such as massage and bath oils and soaps as well as a number of local art pieces and handmade goods.

Most of the items sold at the store are made by local artists and craftspeople and sold on consignment, say the owners.

"We want the Cortez community and local artists to gain from this business just as much as we do," says Brad Wright.

Currently, patrons of the shop will find the walls filled with photography, oil pastel paintings, baskets, wooden clocks and jewelry. "We are trying to keep within the Southwest theme," Wright says, "sort of Southwest with a twist."

"In the future, we are also planning to add some import items as well as our own line of body products," says Liana Wright.
