LLOYD JOHNSON,
equipment mechanic for the Dolores Water Conservation District,
and Scott Twilley of Cortez, heavy-equipment operator for the
district, paint the floodgates at McPhee Dam on Wednesday. They
are able to do the maintenance work because water levels are so
low in the reservoir. The last time they were low enough for such
work was 1990, according to Johnson.
