Frontier Internet activates 'Eye on Cortez' web camera

June 15, 2000

Frontier Internet has activated its first "web cam" in the Cortez area.

This "Eye on Cortez," with a live picture of downtown Cortez, can be found at the web address of http://eyeoncortez.frontier.net.

The camera sits in a second floor office of the Wilson Building at Market and Main (next to the rifle sign) and is aimed at the Valley Tower clock and the mural on the Toggery. This camera allows anyone to view a live image of downtown Cortez just by going to this web site. Viewers can check out what the weather is like if traveling this way and it allows them to see what is going on in downtown Cortez from anywhere in the world — or from just across the street. Frontier is pleased to be able to offer this fun feature to the community and invites everyone to stop by the corner and wave so your friends across the country can see you on the Internet!

Frontier Internet encourages community web sites to include a link to the web cam to better promote the community by providing a live glimpse of the downtown area. The web cam also continues a dramatic view of the mesas in the background.

Liz Windt, Cortez office manager, announced that starting Monday, June 19, Frontier Internet will be in their new Cortez office at the former J.C. Penney catalog store next to Once Upon a Sandwich. The new street address for Frontier Internet is 1 West Main, and the phone number and all other information will remain the same.

Frontier Internet, in business since 1994, was the first ISP in Southwestern Colorado. They have approximately 720 modems in 4 locations. Those interested in more information on Frontier Internet services should contact Frontier Internet at (970) 564-1805 or go to their website at http://www.frontier.net.
