Jan. 29, 2001 By Aspen C. Emmett A young Dolores woman had a brief run-in with the law Monday morning — literally — when she allegedly failed to yield at a stop sign and broad sided a van filled to the gills with law-enforcement officials. No one was injured in the fender-bender, but the vehicles sustained minor damage, according to a police report. Seventeen-year-old Anna Burdick was driving east on Montezuma Avenue in her 1989 Oldsmobile and turned north towards Main Street when she failed to notice the oncoming vehicle, according to the report. Cortez Police Department employees Jim Shethar, 51, of Cortez, Christi Coleman, 43, of Cortez, and Lori Likes, 35, of Cortez, were passengers in the van driven by Renda Wright, 42, of Pleasant View. CPD Officer Matt Cashner cited Burdick with a traffic violation. Johnson said the van belonging to the city of Cortez sustained approximately $600 in damage but that Burdick was insured. According to the police report, the van was eastbound on East Montezuma when Burdick’s right front fender collided with the driver’s side of the van.
