The first Democratic candidate for the office of Montezuma County clerk and recorder announced on Thursday. Thomasina "Tammy" Neely, currently a deputy county clerk, is running for clerk in the Democratic primary. Neely has worked in the county clerk’s office for 16 years as a deputy clerk and as head title clerk for 12 years. She also worked part-time for Dolores County Clerk Earlene White. In a press release, Neely stated that she worked in the election department and was the fair-campaign-practice coordinator, and has experience in the recording department, as well as all other areas. "The staff in this office is hard-working, friendly and willing to go the extra mile to help our customers, which is our purpose. I think we have the potential to take this office a step further into the future," Neely stated. Republican Carol Tullis, chief deputy clerk, has announced her intention to run for the post as well. |
