Ute Mountain tribe having special election

Jan. 10, 2001

A special election will be held on Friday, Jan. 11, from 7 a.m. to noon at the Ute dining hall in Towaoc for an open seat on the Ute Mountain tribal council.

Two candidates will vie for Art Cuthair’s vacant seat. Cuthair resigned to run for the chairman’s job, but lost to Judy Knight-Frank and is not seeking re-election.

Former chair Ernest House Sr. and former councilman Carl Knight will face off for the council seat in Friday’s election.
