Two local women were transported to Southwest Memorial Hospital Thursday evening following a three-car crash on Colorado Highway 145 and East Empire Street. Lois McGiness, 61, of Cortez, and passenger Norma Garris, 72, of Dolores, sustained moderate injuries after they T-boned a northbound vehicle driven by 45-year-old Angela Tunnell of Cortez, according to Cortez Assistant Police Chief Russ Johnson. Tunnell sustained minor injuries but was not taken to the hospital. A third vehicle parked and facing west was then hit by McGiness’s car. Driver Dewey Neely, 16, of Cortez and his 15-year-old brother Brian were uninjured, Johnson said. Extrication was required to get McGiness and Garris out of the vehicle, he said. McGiness was treated and released from the hospital Thursday, while Garris remained in stable condition Friday. |
