Nov 17, 2001 The talented students working at the Panther Press, Montezuma-Cotrez High School’s in-school newspaper, was recently recognized by the Colorado High School Press Association. Garan Shaw and graduate Lenore Sparks both received first-place awards for advertising. The ads they designed were for Comfort Air, Francisca’s Restaurant and Kokopelli’s Bike and Board. Tess Montano claimed third in the news-photo category, for her picture of an instructor faking a violent attack as part of a classroom exercise. Photographer Kara Frasier also claimed third, in feature photography, for her photo of David Feela hosting a poetry reading at Lewis-Arriola Elementary. Brandon Martinez, who graduated last year, won third for his critical review of the movie "Fight Club." The Panther Press is published four times a semester and is included in the Cortez Journal. Awards were presented on Oct. 17, at the DoubleTree in Durango. |
