Youth 4 Change offers an awesome Halloween event

October 18, 2001

Youth 4 Change will host Autumn Fest, an event organized by youth, for youth, on Oct. 27.

Middle- and high school students in search of something fun to do can meet at Parque de Vida from 1 to 9 p.m. and enjoy music played by local youth; climb for free on a rock wall provided by Animas City Rock; buy good food, hot drinks, "glo" sticks and henna tattoos.

There will also be contests, including pumpkin-carving, pumpkin pie-eating, costumes and bands. First prize for the band voted the best is a live spot on KRWN F.M. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three youth bands performing. Prizes, including limited-edition "Autumn Fest" T-shirts, gift certificates and candy are given out for all events.

The Autumn Fest organizers are especially seeking bands that want to jam to an enthusiastic crowd. Those 25 and under, who love to play, should phone 565-4926 to reserve a time. Applications are due by Oct. 24, and are available by phone or at 311 N. Broadway.

Youth 4 Change is supported in its efforts by Slavens True Value Hardware, Canyon Sports, KRWN, Animas City Rock, Wal-Mart, Radio Shack, Rocky Mountain One Stop and the School/Community Youth Coalition.
