Help spina bifida victims by adopting a 'ghost'

Oct 6, 2001

The Colorado Spina Bifida Association (CSBA) is looking for retail establishments throughout the state to assist in a fundraiser.

"Adopt-a-Ghost" is a program in which employees ask customers to adopt a paper ghost for a $1 donation to the CSBA. The customer then signs the ghost, and the retailer can use ghosts to decorate their business, all at no cost to the business. The program will continue through Halloween. The Cortez Journal office, 37 E. Main, is participating in this program.

Spina bifida is the most frequently occurring, permanently disabling birth defect in the Untied States, affecting one in a 1,000 newborns in the country. The CSBA provides family support, education, information, community outreach programs, advocacy and social events for individuals with spina bifida, their families and friends.

Businesses interested in participating in the Adopt-a-Ghost program may phone Francis Houghton at 882-4338.
