CPL. DON CLINE of the Colorado
State Patrol directs traffic at the M&M intersection south
of Cortez on Highway 666 Friday afternoon after a power outage
stalled the traffic lights. According to Roger Echols, a
spokesperson for Empire Electric, the outage occurred at about
10 a.m. when a squirrel blew two lightning arrestors serving the
Blue Door substation south of Cortez. He said the power was
restored about noon, although there were some reports the outage
lasted longer. Approximately 1,600 customers were affected, he
said. |
