Cyclist escapes serious injury

AN UNIDENTIFIED WOMAN collects groceries spilled by a cyclist during a collision between the bike and the car Thursday afternoon at Harrison and Main streets near City Market. According to police, Juanita Ruiz, 34, of Cortez was southbound on Harrison on her bicycle when she ran a red light and collided with the 1993 Nissan Sentra driven by Penny K. Taylor, 39, also of Cortez ,who was traveling east on Main. Ruiz was treated and released at Southwest Memorial Hospital for minor abrasions and was cited for failure to obey a traffic-safety device.
