Livestock association announces convention

July 14, 2001

Get ready for three days of fun and information when the Colorado Livestock Association (CLA) holds its annual convention in Copper Mountain, Aug. 1-3.

The convention starts Wednesday with CLA’s Political Action Committee Golf Tournament. Next members will sit down in an informal round table setting with Jane Norton, the director of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, and Don Ament, the Agriculture Commissioner, to discuss issues important to the future of Colorado’s Livestock industry.

"This is a great opportunity for members to have their voices heard and to receive feedback regarding concerns and opportunities for the livestock industry in Colorado," said Marshall Frasier, the current CLA president from Woodrow.

To finish out the day members will enjoy a welcome reception at Jack’s Slopeside Bar and Grill. Jerry DiPoto, a former Colorado Rockies pitcher, will be there greeting members and signing autographs.

During the next two days, members will enjoy several speakers including columnist and humorist Jim Whitt. Whitt will be talking about human resources and personnel while challenging members to maximize their full potential.

Randy Blach, from Cattle-Fax, will present his always-popular market outlook presentation on Thursday. Break out sessions will follow with Jeremy Cohen, a lawyer with Fairfield & Woods; Angelo Mino, an INS specialist; and Whitt. Cohen will be discussing estate planning, as well as the recently passed tax laws.

On Friday, Eric Chester, the premier expert on Generation Y, people who were born after 1977, will help members better understand this new generation. He will discuss their attitudes and beliefs and how to communicate with them. Marshall Fraiser will also present the President’s State of the Association address Friday morning at the annual business meeting. The banquet entertainment, Friday night, should also provide a few laughs. Tim Gard, the founder of Comic Visions seminars and Tim’s Toys, will teach attendees how to reduce stress with humor. He uses fun toys and great stories to entertain, all the while teaching people important techniques for burnout reduction and stress relief.

Come enjoy three days of fun and entertainment with CLA at Copper Mountain, Aug. 1-3. For registration information contact the CLA office at (303) 238-3232 or cla@coloradolivestock.org.
