July 7, 2001 Every year, hundreds of homes are lost to wildfire. You can learn how to protect your home by coming to an open house Tuesday, July 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the new Mancos Fire Station, 41595 U.S. Highway 160, just east of the P&D Grocery. Free hot dogs and sodas will be provided. A tour of the new Mancos Fire Station and firefighting equipment will be provided, while officials with the Colorado State Forest Service will give tips on "fire-wising" your home and property. The event is sponsored by the Mancos Fire Protection District, Colorado State Forest Service, and Fire Ready wildfire-prevention contractors. For more information, call Fire Ready at 533-7078. |
