June 30, 2001 The second lecture in a six-part series on Native American topics will be presented today at 7:30 p.m. in the Chapin Mesa Museum Auditorium at Mesa Verde National Park. Tessie Naranjo, a Santa Clara Pueblo artist and writer, will present her program, "Awakening the Languages: A National Tribal Research Project." She will discuss the loss of tribal languages and its repercussions for Native American customs and beliefs. The series, "Native American Challenges in the 21st Century," began on June 18. Representatives of regional tribes and other experts will discuss various aspecs of that theme throughout the summer months. All the programs in the series are free and open to the general public. |
