Cortez couple earns $20 for patriotism

June 16, 2001

A Cortez couple got a pleasant surprise on Flag Day, June 14, when they found out that Charter Communications was awarding them for flying the red, white and blue at their home.

Jim Bollinger, assistant manager at Charter, told his crews on the street to inform him of the first flag they saw flying at a local residence.

The first flag spotted happened to be Jim and Lynn Price at 628 Apple Drive.

Their show of patriotism earned them a $20 credit to their Charter account.

Bollinger reportedly thought up the idea and plans to make it an annual event.

Flag Day is a commemorative date set up to mark the anniversay of the flag’s adoption.
