May 22, 2001 The Montezuma County Sheriff’s Posse was called in to search for a lost weapon Monday afternoon but had had no luck in its quest as of press time. According to Sheriff’s Lt. Terry Steele, an elderly man lost the revolver over the weekend while he was out on County Road 28 between Roads N and P. The gun was reportedly tucked in the man’s waistband and was locked and loaded. The man was not in violation of any law, Steele said. "It just fell out of his waistband and he did the responsible thing by reporting it," Steele said. "Obviously the serious concern is kids and civilians that walk up and down that road finding the thing and hurting themselves." Anyone who finds such a weapon should call the sheriff’s department, 565-8441. |
