May 17, 2001

THE FOUR CORNERS Community Band plays the processional during graduation ceremonies for San Juan Basin Technical School and Pueblo Community College students in the Mancos Performance Center Saturday afternoon. More than 700 citizens attended the ceremonies.

More than 700 family members and friends watched 175 San Juan Basin Technical School certificates and Pueblo Community College diplomas awarded at the Mancos Performance Center Saturday afternoon.

After the Four Corners Community Band played the processional and all were seated, Bill Lewis, executive director of the technical school, introduced the dignitaries. Representatives of both schools and the participating school districts were on the stage.

San Juan Basin awarded 129 certificates to 117 students. Seven students received certificates in two or more fields.

Associate diplomas went to 58 PCC students, four of whom — Tamara D. Higgins, Judy Mae Knight-Frank, Rebekah Gladys McGuire and Misty S. Small — also received certificates from San Juan Basin.

Twelve students completed the San Juan Basin’s construction-technology program in January and received their certificates at that time.

Thirteen of the certificates awarded (10 med-prep, two automotive-mechanics and one combination-welding) went to students who are concurrently graduating from local high schools.
